Up Her Sleeve

Written by Dan Schwartz,
Esme Michaela & Molly Exley-Kidd

A coming-of-age dark comedy about a young woman’s experience with periods, sex, fertility and ovarian disorders

Synopsis:

A gregarious 22-year-old recounts the various sexual revelations that shaped her from an uncertain child to a self-aware-ish woman.

Follow Daphne, who has had problems with her periods since they first began, as she sits down to have an imaginary therapy session with her egg.

Through the use of flashback scenes, we revisit her teenage self and the experiences that shaped those years; her first period, first sexual experience, first pregnancy test...

Founder, Esme, decided to co-create Up Her Sleeve with Dan and Molly after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The play was Esme's producer debut, after taking the solo-show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022 for it's full run.

"The character and her experiences, surely widely relatable for young women, are delivered with clarity and humour in this sure-footed piece."

The Scotsman

"Full-frontal & intimate, no holds barred yet vulnerable."

Fringe Biscuit

"A great show for anyone wanting to reminisce, giggle and understand further a topic that is so often kept in the private journals of young women."
